Eco-Friendly Preservation

We are firm believers in accurately researching, analyzing and retelling the history of each lighthouse in order to educate others and encourage ongoing preservation.  Each lighthouse- through its trajectory of planning, construction, tenure, and automation – offers a contextual understanding of the importance of lighthouses to America's nautical and maritime history, while also revealing the complex relationship between its commercial and environmental interests.

In preserving lighthouses, Beacon Preservation's primary focus is to restore and outfit each beacon as a model for zero-input sustainable energy to promote ecological research, "green" education, and environmentally-friendly practices pertaining to conservation, global warming, marine biology, and the harnessing of wind, tidal, and solar power to reduce fossil fuel consumption
